Colts head coach Shane Steichen told reporters that Joe Flacco will be the starting quarterback on the road against the New York Jets next Sunday.

“Not ever losing faith or trust in [Flacco]. We’re going through a process,” Steichen said on Monday.

Flacco is coming off a game in which he threw three interceptions in his second game as the team’s starter.

The 39-year-old moved into the starter role last month after Steichen benched the 2023 first-round pick Anthony Richardson.

The Florida Gators product’s future is on pause as he has thrown for 958 yards with four touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Indianapolis benched Richardson when it was 4-4 but they now have lost their last two games.

Flacco threw for 179 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception in the 20-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9.

After the Colts’ third straight loss, safety Kenny Kenny Moore II criticized the team, suggesting there was a lack of effort from the team’s players.

The next day, on Monday, former Colts punter and ESPN analyst Pat McAfee called out Indy’s product on the field and culture.

“This Colts team f***ing sucks,” McAfee said on his self-titled show.

“I’m disgusted. I’m disgusted. Everyone wants to put [Anthony Richardson] in; hey, listen, AR had no chance with this building. That’s what I’ve realized over the last 12 hours.

“I’m wondering why AR’s tapping out of games as a quarterback.

“Like, how does this guy not know you can’t, as a quarterback, do that? Like, call timeout, waste a timeout, instead of tapping your head and showcasing that whole thing.”

McAfee referenced Richardson tapping out of a drive during the Colts’ loss to the Houston Texans last month.

“Is he getting better? Is he getting worse? Is he in shape? All those things,” McAfee continued. “He’s got nobody telling him how he’s supposed to operate in that building.”

“Kenny Moore II, our captain, one of my favorite guys on the football team, after the game, comes out and goes, ‘Our team doesn’t work.’…

So, AR had no idea how he’s supposed to be a professional because there’s no damn professionals in that building.”

The Colts and 3-7 Jets will battle at 1:00 pm Eastern on Sunday.

The matchup was flexed out of the Sunday Night Football slot by the NFL.
