In his viral video, TikTok user Anto (@antoshurigin) gave his followers a virtual tour of his bedroom.

He explained that people often call him crazy for his decor style but revealed the reason behind his choice.

“I’m living in a real life black and white filter,” the TikToker joked in the caption of his clip.

He shared that he opts for the plain decor because he has chromophobia.

Anto described the condition as “basically a fear or aversion to colour.”

“For me, I just personally really dislike it and it makes me uncomfortable,” he added.

The experts at the Cleveland Clinic explained the condition in further detail.

“Most people with this disorder have an extreme aversion to one or two colors in particular — or they may only fear bright colors,” they clarified.

“People with chromophobia have severe anxiety or panic attacks when they see a color they’re afraid of.”

Anto described going out into a world full of bright colours as “the same way people [feel] on planes when they are afraid of flying.”

He gave his followers a quick look around his bedroom, including his black, white, or grey runners lined up beside his bed.

He even opened his closet door to show off his “fully monochromatic wardrobe.”

To prove that he wasn’t simply using a filter, Anto placed a bright orange box on his bed.

His followers shared their thoughts on the unique set-up in the comments section.

“The fact that your room looks like that is actually so impressive!!! I also didn’t know chromophobia was a thing until this,” wrote one viewer.

2024’s Top Trending Colours for Interior Design

Homebase has revealed the official trending colours for this year.

To predict the top shades of 2024, sales data at Homebase analysed 5 colours that have surged in popularity with customers.

Copper, pink and black are predicted to be the hottest colours on Brit’s walls this year, while bathrooms are seeing a surprising rise in terracotta colour schemes.

The top five trending colours for 2024 are:

  1. Copper (+57%)
  2. Pink (+38%)
  3. Black (+34%)
  4. Green (+29%)
  5. Orange (+27%)

Copper has replaced rose gold, whilst blush is the new magnolia, and Brits are also going bold by slapping black paint all over their walls.

Green is always popular colour, but the shade ‘Fresh Herb’ – a versatile, pale grey-toned green – is hitting hundreds of customers baskets.

Meanwhile, terracotta is taking over with ‘Frosted Papaya’, a peachy orange shade dominating bathrooms.

“This is so 1975 fan in 2014 core,” joked another TikTok user.

“I think what sells it the most is the lack of warm lighting. Makes the place seem so much less yellow and colourful,” pointed out one person.

Another viewer jokingly compared the room to the “grey spell in Halloweentown.”

“This is actually a type of torture,” wrote one follower.

“By any chance were you a victim of the sad beige baby aesthetic?” asked another person.
