Mickey Gasper understandably dressed to impress Monday.
Gasper received a long-awaited call before the Red Sox opened a three-game series with the Ranger at Fenway Park. As part of a flurry of Boston roster moves that included James Paxton landing on the injured list and a suspension for Jarren Duran, Gasper was promoted to the big leagues for the first time in his professional baseball career.
The New Hampshire native, who the Red Sox selected in the Rule 5 draft back in December, arrived to the ballpark in style. So much so that manager Alex Cora was a bit taken aback.
“I’ve never seen a call-up as dressed up as he was,” Cora told reporters, per The Boston Globe. “Sports coat and all that. I was like, ‘Where were you?’ He was like, ‘At the apartment.’ I was like, ‘Oh, good for you.'”

Gasper ended up impressing on the diamond Monday night, too. The Bryant University product pinch-hit in the 10th inning and drew a seven-pitch walk to keep the momentum alive for the Red Sox. Two batters later, Rob Refsnyder smacked a walk-off single that halted Boston’s losing streak at four games.
The 28-year-old Gasper might not have much of a role with the Red Sox for the rest of the season. But he certainly made a good first impression in The Show.
