Former NBA All-Star Calls Devin Booker Better ‘Scorer’ Than Steph Curry

NBA All-Star and the greatest shooter of all time, Stephen Curry, is coming off a magical summer. The four-time NBA champion captured his first-ever gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympic games, and Team USA did so thanks to his heroics.

Curry was lights out in the last two Olympic games and showed on the global stage that he was among the best basketball players ever.

The 36-year-old is still at the top of his game, so it’s no surprise that he is the topic of conversation when almost everything is basketball-related. That was the case on the Gilbert Arenas Show. Areans and the other guests broke down the difference between shooters and scorers.

In this clip, Areans said that he believes Phoneix Suns superstar guard Devin Booker is more of a ‘scorer’ than Curry.

“It’s an overall thing; Devin Booker would be considered more of a scorer than Steph Curry,” said Arenas. “Natural scorer, yeah,” Arenas responded to former NBA guard Brandon Jennings when he asked, “Really?!?!”

Jennings was not on board with that comment, as he responded by saying Curry could score throughout the court.

Areans and the rest of the guests tackled that subject for the next few minutes.

Although Curry is the greatest shooter of all time, people tend to forget that he can score from anywhere on the court, similar to how Booker can. The former Davidson Wildcat is a two-time NBA scoring champion and holds a 24.8 points per game average throughout his 15-year career.

Booker is no slouch on offense, as well. Booker is among the best scorers in the league, as he’s already scored a career-high 70 points in his sophomore season, joining all-time greats like Wilt Chamberlain, David Robinson, David Thompson, Elgin Baylor, and Kobe Bryant to score 70 or more in a game.

The 27-year-old holds a 24.3 points per game average throughout his nine-year career.

The difference between a scorer and a shooter can be debated for hours on end. Curry and Booker can score with the best of them and are members of All-NBA teams for their scoring ability and impact on their squad.

These guys are some of the best scorers we have seen throughout the last decade or so, and there’s no reason why that shouldn’t continue as we approach the 2024-25 season.
