Tom Holland’s latest venture has proven polarizing.

On Sunday, October 13, the Spider-Man actor, 28, launched BERO, a non-alcoholic beer brand. Following the announcement, the beer brand has prompted some mixed reactions.

Many took to social media to express their confusion over an alcohol-free beer, suggesting that such a beverage is counterintuitive.

“Alcohol is the entire point of beer,” said one person on X (formerly Twitter). “Just either drink it or don’t lol.”

“What is the point of non alcoholic beer?,” asked another. “They want nothing less than the eradication of gods light.”

Holland has long been open about his struggles with drinking.

In an interview on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast that was published in July of 2023, Holland revealed that he had cut out alcohol completely in June of 2022 after participating in dry January earlier that year and reevaluating his habits. He felt compelled to participate in dry January following a “boozy” holiday season.

“I was definitely addicted to alcohol, not shying away from that at all,” Holland said. All I could think about was having a drink…I was waking up thinking about it. I was checking the clock, when’s it 12 p.m.?”

Many fans were aware of Holland’s sobriety, and thankfully, the supportive responses seem to have outweighed the negative responses to his new BERO beverage.

“Personally I love this,” said one fan. “It will help so many people.”

Another fan called for people to “Learn Tom’s story, and then support the hell out of this venture for him!”

“tom holland might be one of the coolest humblest people ever,” said another fan. “this is dope. anyone hating on it needs some serious self reflection.”

BERO is set to launch on Wednesday, October 16, and fans can purchase cans through the brand’s official website.
