EVA Mendes has opened up about two things she ‘can’t stop’ as a mom saying she ‘feels bad’ for her two kids.

The parents, who met on set of the 2013 movie The Place Beyond, have kept their family life out of the spotlight.

However, in a recent podcast the star spoke about what she feels guilty about as a mom.

Speaking on the Parenting and You podcast with Dr. Shefali, she explained that she feels bad when she yells and rushes the girls.

Eve said: “I think one of the hardest patterns for me is yelling.

“Because I don’t yell when they need me, quote on quote, or I’ve never yelled, ‘Shut up!’ or anything.

“In my mind, it’s not like a mean yell.

“But it doesn’t matter, I yell.

“And it’s this yelling that I find so cultural but it’s like I’m having a really hard time getting through and not yelling.

“The rushing and the yelling for me.”

Eva’s parents Pérez Suárez and Juan Carlos Méndez are Cuban.

The Ghost Rider actress then fought back the tears as she confessed that she hopes that her girls weren’t “raised by fear”.

“My mother was definitely, again, so loving and so amazing but it was definitely like raising us by fear. That whole thing.

“That I really talk about being conscious of,” Eva said.

“And I hope I’m not going to look back in 20 years and go, ‘Oh, shoot. I did that.’

“Because I really don’t want to raise by fear.

“That’s the one…I’m getting emotional over [this] because it’s so not fair to the kids.

“A lot of times when people meet my girls and they say, ‘Oh, they’re so respectful and they’re so sweet.’

“I’m like, ‘Oh, thank you,’ but I’m like, Oh no, I hope that they’re just mimicking what they see.

“I hope that I’m not unknowingly putting some kind of pressure on them through fear like I was raised in that way, through threats and fears.”

STARTING A FAMILY

Speaking about their choice to start a family, Eva knew that she wanted to have children with the Hollywood star.

She previously told Woman’s Health: “Then it made sense for me to have… not kids, but his kids.

“It was very specific to him.”

Although the two keep quiet about their family life, Eva did open up during a chat with Access Hollywood  about their way of life.

“It’s so fun and beautiful and maddening.

“It’s so hard, of course.

“But it’s that that feeling of ending your day and putting them to bed and Ryan and I look at each other like: ‘We did it, we came out relatively unscathed.’”

While Ryan is still acting to this day, Eva has taken a step back.

The last film she appeared in was Lost River in 2014, and she played Jennifer in TV show Clear History in 2013.

The star did take on the voice role of a yoga instructor in Bluey back in 2021 though.

Speaking on the podcast, Eva said of stepping back: “The easiest decision I’ve ever made.

“I was older and I knew that my kids are going to be little once, and whatever I do or don’t do right now is going to affect them the rest of their life.”

Eva and Ryan started dating in 2011.

In September 2014 the pair welcomed Esmeralda into the world, followed by Amada two years later.
