Daniel Dubois celebrated his birthday today by smashing his birthday cake with a likeness of Anthony Joshua with a right hand ahead of their fight 15 days from now on September 21st at Wembley Stadium in London.
Dubois turned 27 today and has the youth advantage over the two-time heavyweight champion Joshua, who will be turning 35 next month on October 15th. Age is beginning to catch up to the Eddie Hearn-promoted AJ, and this might be the end of the road for him if he’s knocked out by the rising star, Dubois.
Hearn’s Rebuilding Efforts: A Band-Aid Solution?
Hearn has done a man’s job of rebuilding Joshua, feeding him four sub-level opponents after his second defeat against Oleksandr Usyk two years ago on August 20, 2022, but those cans haven’t changed anything.
It was more of a case of Joshua being propped up to ensure he kept bringing in the dough for a little longer. You can’t blame Hearn for hitting the emergency button with Joshua to feed him a poor position and save his sinking career because he brings total cash each time he fights.
As we’ve seen in Jsohua’s last four fights, it doesn’t matter who he fights. The British public can’t get enough of him.
IBF heavyweight champion Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs) looks forward to destroying the oddsmakers and fan-favorite Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs), knocking him off his high horse.
Joshua’s fans and promoter Hearn believe that he’s better than ever due to the supposed changes his trainer, Ben Davison, has made since he took over as his coach in 2023.
The only change that Davison has made with AJ is for him to throw more right hands, but the opposition he’s been fighting in the last year has been something awful. Hearn has matched Joshua against these four tomato cans to mentally bring him back from the depths after his meltdown after the second loss to Usyk:
– Francis Ngannou
– Otto Wallin
– Robert Helenius
– Jermaine Franklin
Wait for it… 😳🎂
