Donald Trump Jr. and longtime fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle have not publicly called off their engagement, but the eldest son of president-elect Donald Trump was photographed holding hands with Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson earlier this week amid reports that the long-awaited wedding isn’t going to happen. Meanwhile, Guilfoyle was named by the president-elect as his pick for ambassador to Greece. Not to Mamma anyone’s Mia, but my! What a mess.
Anderson describes herself in her Instagram bio as “just your typical stay at home mom…only I don’t do household chores…or have a husband…or have kids..” Meaning: The Girl Next Door (Mar-a-Lago’s Version) spends a good amount of her time being rich and having her picture taken in expensive clothing. In photos published by the Daily Mail on Tuesday, she did both while holding hands in the street with her alleged beau. The two were apparently celebrating Anderson’s 38th birthday, which was Monday. She also tagged Don Jr. in a photo of a birthday bouquet that she posted to her Instagram Story earlier this week. She used itty-bitty font for his handle, but there are easier ways to hide it, such as not tagging in the first place.
Of course, it’s always awkward to run into an ex, so it’s a nice, probably not accidental, bit of timing that Tuesday evening also saw Guilfoyle announced by president-elect Donald Trump, Don Jr.’s dad who’s had his own fair share of extramarital dealings, as the United States’ new ambassador to Greece. Not a huge chance of Guilfoyle running into her old flame on a jaunt to the grocery store while wearing sweatpants and a messy bun, but never say never, you know?
Guilfoyle, a former Fox News host, was dismissed from the outlet amid accusations of sexual misconduct. (Guilfoyle denied the claims; Fox settled with her accuser.) In the 2024 race, Guilfoyle, who has been engaged to the president-elect’s eldest son since 2020, acted as a sort of foil to Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, with whom she used to work in the Bay Area legal community. President-elect Trump, in his Tuesday announcement of Guilfoyle’s diplomatic post, called her a “close friend and ally.”
“Her extensive experience and leadership in law, media, and politics along with her sharp intellect make her supremely qualified to represent the United States,” he wrote on social media.
This isn’t the first time rumors about Don Jr. and Anderson have bubbled up: They were reportedly spotted kissing some months ago, and Anderson even attended last summer’s Republican National Convention, where Guilfoyle was featured as a speaker. Anderson was photographed sitting directly behind the betrothed Trump and Guilfoyle in the crowd, wearing a bright red dress.
Representatives for Anderson, Guilfoyle, and Trump did not immediately respond to Vanity Fair’s requests for comment.
