Shawneesha Cobbs from Chicago paid for two of the meals but shared them with more than two other friends at the table.

The manager of the Applebee’s in Portage, Indiana, explained to Cobbs that each person at the table would have to pay $15.99.

Cobbs and her friends disagreed which led to an argument over the bill.

Police were contacted and arrived at the restaurant around 8:30 pm on Friday, August 2, Local 12 reported.

Officers on the scene revealed they “heard multiple females screaming and threatening people,” according to Region News Source.

Cobb and her friends argued with police that it was not made clear to them that each person would have to pay individually.

Officers quickly located the bold print on the menu that explained the rules of the offer.

Cobbs allegedly became disruptive ignoring police’s orders to calm down leading to her arrest.

She was then taken to the Porter County Jail and was charged with disorderly conduct.

One of the diners from the party returned to the restaurant after the debacle and paid the bill in full, according to local news reports.

Applebee’s Owner’s $1 Deal Strategy to Save the Chains

Meanwhile, Applebee’s is also bringing back its popular half-price appetizer deals.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MORE DEALS

The chain’s Late Night Half Price Appetizers deal is now available seven days a week but only occurs at certain hours.

Customers will be able to get discounted wings, mozzarella sticks, and more on any day, the company announced.

The discount will apply to in-person and online orders made through Applebees’ app or website.

CLOSING THE DOORS FOR GOOD

Applebee’s may be offering multiple deals to customers to avoid more closures.

Vance Yuwen Chen, CFO of Dine Brands Global, which owns Applebee’s and IHOP, announced that 25 to 30 restaurants would close this year.

Another Applebee’s location shut down in New York on May 19.

Just weeks before that, another Applebee’s closed in Waco, Texas.

Guests found out from a note taped to the door that announced the closure.

“From April 29th, 2024, this Applebee’s is closed,” it said.

“We regret any inconvenience it has caused our valued guests.”
