Matt Rife has gotten quite the amount of comments on his appearance throughout his comedy career. The 28-year-old comedian doesn’t dodge questions about if he’s done work on his face, but actually embraces it.
In his new Netflix comedy special Lucid, Matt Rife took a jab at all the accusations that he’s done some work on his face. Right after he says his thank yous, the special cuts to a black and white epilogue slideshow with the text, “Matt went backstage and took out his teeth and obviously fake jawline.”

Did Matt Rife get plastic surgery?
Matt Rife has repeatedly denied that he’s gotten plastic surgery. On an episode of Cancelled with Tana Mongeau and Brook Schofield, the influencer asked him if he had any work done on him. “Not a single f***ing thing,” he said. “I just kept getting older I guess, it’s so funny.”
He continued, “I’ve had people who claim to be plastic surgeons that’ll be like: ‘He’s had this…’ and I’m like, cool, you’re not only lying but you’re wrong at your job. People’s number one online insult is: ‘Well, at least I don’t have plastic surgery.’ Cool, neither do I.” He added that he owes his appearance to “doctor G-O-D.”
One TikTok plastic surgery influencer jokingly claimed to have chiseled Rife’s jawline amid his spiking popularity and a controversy about a joke about domestic abuse. Dr Benjamin Caughlin, known as @manyfacesofchicago posted a video of him skipping across the office with text overlayed on the video, “Me after creating the greatest jawline ever seen just for my patient to get cancelled right after.” He captioned the TikTok “He shall not be named… #cancelled #jawlinecheck #comedian #standup #celeb”
Rife commented on the video when it was reposted on Instagram, “Lying about medical history is illegal, just FYI.”
Well, what happened with Matt Rife’s teeth?
Though he’s denied plastic surgery claims, Matt Rife has been open about getting work on his teeth. He said on the same Tana Mongeau podcast, “The only thing I’ve had done is my teeth – I got veneers, obviously, because my teeth were f—ed when I was a kid.”
He documented the process on Instagram in 2018. He posted a picture with his dentist Dr. Kourosh Maddahi. He wrote in the caption, “Thank you so much to @the_smile_expert for everything. Some ppl don’t know my teeth used to be F—D and I’d rather have died than smile. But thanks to him i can smile anywhere; his office, a funeral, planned parenthood, etc… 😁😁😁 (i said i CAN smile now, i didn’t say i was good at it or that I’ll stop posing the same dumbass face i do in every picture😉) #Smile”
Rife also regulary schedules checkups to maintain his smile. Dr. Maddahi posted a picture with the comedian in October 2023 and posted his testimonial. “For everyone who keeps asking about my teeth– they are courtesy of @the_smile_expert 🙌🏼 I got my teeth done by him a few years back and I’ve been coming back ever since 😁 he’s the absolute best in LA.”
