Dennis McCann’s promoter Frank Warren has confirmed that a “couple” of adverse substances were found in the positive test that ruled McCann out of Saturday’s fight with Peter McGrail.
The 23 year old was on Monday replaced by Rhys Taylor as McGrail’s opponent for the junior-featherweight contest on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk-Tyson Fury II in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
He is serving a suspension with the British Boxing Board of Control, who have referred his case to UK Anti-Doping while an investigation takes place.
“There was a couple in there,” Queensberry Promotions’ Warren told Boxing News. “His urine test came out positive.
“We haven’t had the result of his B sample yet. His blood sample came out negative, so that’s where we are.
“Once we know where we are with the B sample – whether we do or we don’t know, the Board of Control have suspended him, reported it to UKAD. UKAD will convene a hearing, and until after the result of that hearing I can’t give you any further information.”
McCann last fought in July, when he outpointed Ionut Baluta of Romania.
