DAVANTE ADAMS has revealed he made a shock decision before being traded to the New York Jets.
The wide receiver headed to MetLife Stadium this week from the Las Vegas Raiders after two years in Nevada.
Adams’ move sees him reunite with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who he spent seven years with at the Green Bay Packers.
He leaves the Raiders after making 37 starts since signing in 2022, with 221 receptions for 2,869 yards and 23 touchdowns.
Several teams were reportedly interested in Adams before he opted to join the Jets.
However, the 31-year-old has now admitted he did not consider joining reigning Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs.
Appearing on Kay Adams’ Up & Adams Show, he was asked what his options were, with the host naming the Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints.
Adams explained: “Those are the ones that got involved.
“Those are the ones that I wrote down on a lil’ piece of paper and handed to the general manager.
“Those are the ones that were interested and it just so happened that the Jets were my number one choice and they were probably the most interested, clearly the most interested in me as well.”
He was then asked if the Chiefs were on the list, only to shoot down the prospect of teaming up with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
The former Fresno State standout added: “Negative. That was talked about but, I don’t want to say anything crazy, but the Chiefs were not on the list.”
Andy Reid’s team have a perfect 5-0 record this season as they chase a third Super Bowl in a row.
Meanwhile, Adams will now line-up for the 2-4 Jets, who are currently without a head coach after firing Robert Saleh.
His new team visit the Steelers on Sunday night looking to snap a three-game losing streak.
