THE Dallas Cowboys announced their starting quarterback for the Week 12 matchup with the Washington Commanders.
Jerry Jones’ Dallas Cowboys have now lost five straight games and are without Dak Prescott, who is out for the season after he underwent season-ending hamstring surgery last week.
Dallas suffered another disappointing home loss as they were defeated 34-10 by the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.
They are 0-5 on the road and lost a home game by more than 20 points for the fourth time this season.
The Cowboys started Cooper Rush, who was inconsistent, completing 32 of 55 passes for 354 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and one fumble.
On Tuesday, head coach Mike McCarthy admitted he regretted not allowing Trey Lance to play in the game.

McCarthy still told reporters that Rush will get the start once again but that there will be a plan for Lance to be inserted in the game as well.
“We got a package for Trey, and we’ll see what happens,” McCarthy said, per CBS Sports.
McCarthy’s words echoed Jones’ sentiments from Monday night, indicating the team will stick with Rush as the starting quarterback.
“I think our best chance is to have Rush in here, and the goal is to win the game,” Jones said to reporters following the Monday loss.
Lance played in the previous game when the Cowboys lost 34-6 to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Rush started in the contest and had a brutal outing, becoming just the third player in the last 20 years with over 20 pass attempts (23) and under 50 passing yards in a game (45).
Lance replaced Rush and recorded just 21 passing yards and an interception in the game.
Rush had won five of his first six starts across the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
The Cowboys have now lost both of his starts the last two weeks by a combined score of 68-16.
Rush has struggled to be on the same page with superstar wideout CeeDee Lamb, who has caught 14 of his 22 targets from the quarterback for 114 yards.
It would be surprising to not see Dallas eventually start Lance this season.
Before the 2023 season, the Cowboys acquired Lance from the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a 2024 fourth-round pick.
The 24-year-old Lance is also a former No. 3 overall pick.
The Cowboys are 3-7 and will face the Washington Commanders in Week 12.
The Commanders are 7-4 and are in search of a win as they have a current two-game losing streak.
