Dachshund Looks Innocent After Licking Sister’s Head—Owner Has Receipts

A dachshund has charmed the internet by licking his sister’s head, then hilariously trying to look “innocent” about it.

Jimmy Stoffey (@jimjimjimjimjimjimjimji) shared an entertaining video of his dachshund, Long John, looking undeniably angelic before the camera pans to his sister’s wild new hairdo. The hysterical clip racked up 204,600 likes and more than 1.1 million views.

“Long John. Were you licking her head? Were you licking her head?” Jimmy asks, playfully questioning his pup’s innocence. Long John, naturally, sits with an expression as pure as can be.

The camera then zooms in on the sister dog, Nelly, whose fur has been given a dramatic, windswept restyle—perfected into a mohawk that wouldn’t look out of place on a rock star.

Dog licking is often a way of showing affection and is usually a bonding behavior. As puppies, dogs lick their mothers and littermates to communicate and explore. According to the Blue Cross, licking remains a lifelong form of social bonding and can also signify submission, as one dog may lick another to show trust or to signal a willingness to engage in social interaction. In Long John’s case, the licking could indicate his way of expressing fondness toward Nelly or simply playing around.

Dachshunds, like Long John, are known for their playful, affectionate personalities. Originally bred as hunters, these small yet fearless dogs are not only known for their loyalty but also for a distinctive stubborn streak that has endeared them to owners for centuries.

The American Kennel Club describes dachshunds as clever, courageous and a bit stubborn, making them loving companions and comical family members.

Their curiosity and desire to bond with loved ones may explain Long John’s entertaining head-licking behavior.

TikTokers were captivated by the scene and flooded the comments section with their thoughts on the amusing encounter.

“They call me the midnight barber,” joked Kim.

“Long John. I cannot with his name and her freakin’ mohawk,” laughed another viewer.

“Long John was absolutely not licking her head,” someone else added, obviously joining in the joke.

“Not guilty, your honor,” quipped another, summing up Long John’s expression of pure innocence.
