Collinsworth and Tirico were on the call as the Rams took on the Detroit Lions in the Motor City.

Rams play-caller Stafford returned to his former team looking to lead Sean McVay’s team to a win in Week 1.

And one play from the 36-year-old veteran had Collinsworth in awe from the broadcast booth.

Stafford completed a remarkable third-down pass from within his own 15-yard line late in the fourth quarter.

The former Lions QB was under immense pressure from the defense as he somehow found wideout Demarcus Robinson on the slant.

“This may be the throw of the year,” Collinsworth gasped.

“How does Stafford even see the guy down the field, much less falling backwards, fadeaway jumper, no-look, whatever the heck that was, and complete that 3rd down pass?!

“That is redonkulous right there! Wow!”

“Never thought I would hear Chris Collinsworth say “redonkulous” live on air. Weird stuff happens during SNF,” laughed one fan on X in response to the footage, which quickly went viral.

“I speak for the entire NFL when I say never say that again,” added another.

“Chris Collinsworth hitting us with “that could be the throw of the year” on like a 7-yard pass in Week 1. We’re so back,” joked a third.

“Cris Collinsworth just said ‘redonkulous’ Get him off the air,” demanded a fourth.

“It wasn’t even the best throw today,” added a fifth.

Stafford’s heroics proved to be in vain as the Rams were defeated 26-20 after overtime.

Collinsworth, a former wideout for the Cincinnati Bengals, joined NBC back in 1990.

Over the offseason, he revealed he had been giving new Fox analyst Tom Brady tips ahead of the GOAT’s new $375 million broadcast role.

Collinsworth revealed an “insane and intense” Brady had “called him” to discuss his plans.

“Tom is a great guy. He’s gonna be brilliant,” he said.

“I mean, our whole life we’ve been trying to anticipate what Tom Brady was thinking when he came to the line of scrimmage, and God right, and now we’re gonna hear it.

“He’s studying hard. He’s working on it.”

Brady made his long-awaited debut on Sunday, covering the Dallas Cowboys win over the Cleveland Browns.
