COSTCO shoppers have raved over a Rao’s pasta sauce dupe that’s cheaper and “better”.
The Victoria sauce has won over pasta lovers for its reasonable price and reportedly great flavor.
In a taste test done by Mashed, four samples were taken from notoriously good Rao’s and Costco’s Victoria.
The flavors sampled included marinara, tomato basil, vodka and Arrabbiata.
The reviewer found that Victoria sauces had “more flavor” than that of Rao’s due to the “herbs and spices” within each sauce.
And what’s even better is that four 24-ounce jars of Victoria sauce cost an unbelievable $11.36 less than the same amount of Rao’s.
The only exception was the Rao’s Arrabbiata sauce, which the reviewer indulged in and labelled as “one of the best [sauces] I’ve ever tasted.”
The reviewer is not alone with, overall, preferring Victoria over Rao’s.
One user took to Reddit to describe their love for Victoria and how it’s “better than Rao’s”.
They said: “It’s absolutely delicous!! Reminds me of sauce my Nonna would make growing up (obviously nothing beats homemade) but it’s so good!
“I’ve tried Rao’s before and favor this.
“Tried it because it was on sale and now, I can’t see myself using anything else from now on.”
The post attracted hundreds of comments.
One user said: “This is the best jarred sauce, period.”
Another commented: “Victoria’s is much better than Rao’s.”
And: “Victoria’s is the best sauce I’ve ever had. We stock up anytime they go on sale.”
But some commenters disagreed, with one reading: “Rao’s is a lot better in my opinion.
“It is less liquidy and tastes slightly better.”
The overall consensus is that if you want to save some cash when buying groceries, Victoria sauce may be the better option.
Prices may vary when purchasing Victoria sauces from Costco.
