A COSTCO shopper has called for the chain to make a host of changes and to take inspiration from a rival store.

The customer demanded that Costco make three specific changes to its services.

They took to social media to ask the chain to implement similar policies to those at Sam’s Club.

“Please add curbside pickup and free same day delivery for Executive Members at your earliest convenience,” Megan Gibson wrote in a post on Facebook.

“Scan and go in the app would also be great.

“I really love spending my money at your store, but Sam’s Club has really got you beat in these 3 major areas.

“Please don’t give me reasons to break up with you,” the shopper begged.

“Second only to my marriage, my Costco membership is my most valued and longest standing relationship.

“It’s not me, it’s definitely you,” she added.

Many Costco customers have voiced their discontent with the retailer’s recent rise in membership fees.

As members are being forced to pay more per year, it seems they are now demanding more for their money.

“A million percent agree with this!” one user commented on the post.

Costco members beg chain to ‘clamp down on worst offenders’ as controversial policy forces ‘higher prices’ for everyone

“Let’s hope Costco reads this,” another shopper wrote.

On September 1, the regular membership fees increased from $60 to $65 a year, while the Executive Membership price rose from $120 to $130.

And some Costco customers have even ended their membership due to this change.

“I didn’t renew it. Not worth it, especially with how hard it is to shop and check out there,” a shopper wrote on Facebook.

There seems to be a trend of Americans taking their business to Sam’s Club instead.

One Costco customer wrote that shopping was “so much easier” at Sam’s Club.

Costco membership sharing guidelines

Costco has strict rules for membership use that shoppers must follow and they’ve been cracking down on offenders in recent years.

  • Primary Member Use: Only the primary cardholder can use this Costco membership card. Sharing it for purchases is not allowed as the photo on the card must match the person using it.
  • Household Card: Each primary member can add one free household cardholder who lives at the same address. This person will receive their own membership card and can shop at Costco independently.
  • Guest Policy: Members can bring up to two guests per visit to Costco. However, only the member can make purchases. Guests must be accompanied by the member.
  • Authorized Cardholder: For an additional fee, you can add an authorized cardholder, such as a family member or friend, who doesn’t reside at your address. They will receive their own card and can shop independently.

“I will not be renewing my membership until you get a self scan app like @SamsClub,” another shopper declared.

The U.S. Sun contacted Costco for comment.

Sam’s Club offers its customers a Scan & Go service which aims to make shopping more convenient.

People can pay in the app and show an exit code to an employee on their way out.

And it seems that some Costco shoppers want the chain to implement a similar system.

COSTCO WOES

Costco customers have also complained about the long lines at checkouts and have called for a more efficient system to be introduced.

“For the first time, I abandoned my cart of stuff and walked out in frustration,” one angry customer wrote on Facebook.

“The lines to check out were easily an hour and probably close to two hours.

“They were stacked up to the back wall of the store,” they explained.

“This is why I chose not to renew my Costco membership and went back to Sam’s Club,” another shopper wrote in agreement.
