DRIVERS can clear their icy windshields in seconds using a $4 Walmart purchase – and they won’t even have to scrape the glass.

A car expert has revealed to The U.S. Sun the number-one item they recommend to save time and money on freezing winter days.

Ron Krauch, an Automotive Writer at CarsAndConvos.com, explained why you don’t need to break the bank when clearing your windshield.

His top pic was the 32 oz Windshield Trigger De-Icer from Pestone, which retails for just $3.98 on Walmart’s website.

“Commercial de-icing sprays can quickly melt ice on windows and locks,” Ron explained to The U.S. Sun.

“Many contain alcohol or other chemicals that lower the freezing point of water, allowing you to clear the ice quickly.”

Ron also recommended a windshield snow cover, which typically costs between $10 and $25.

“A windshield cover helps prevent ice and snow from building up on your windshield overnight,” he said.

And if all else fails, Ron says you can’t go wrong with an ice scraper.

Typically, they cost between $5 and $15, but he warns there is a condition.

Ron advises making sure when buying your scraper that you select one with a brush.

“An ice scraper with an attached brush is essential for removing ice from windows and brushing snow off your car,” he explained.

“Make sure to choose a sturdy one that won’t scratch the glass.”

Car wizard Ron has warned drivers to get prepared now before a winter takeover leaves drivers stuck behind layers of biting frost.

But as long as you keep an eye out for any warning signs and keep checking your fluid levels, there’s no reason why this should be more necessary than usual.
