A man has been arrested on suspicion of sparking the Line Fire in Southern California, which has already burned thousands of acres.
Justin Wayne Halstenberg, from Norco, was arrested on Tuesday evening following an investigation by California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) and detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The 34-year-old is being held on a $80,000 bail after being booked for arson, detectives said, according to a report by CBS News. How the fire was started has not yet been revealed.
The Line Fire is located on the north-east threshold of the city of San Bernadino, which is about 60 miles east of Los Angeles.
The blaze is 14 percent contained as of a 10:38 p.m. update from Cal Fire on September 9, and has burned nearly 35,000 acres of land in San Bernadino County. More than 2,684 personnel across 52 fire crews are currently battling to put out the blaze.
