SAN Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed a troubling injury update concerning quarterback Brock Purdy.
The news came after the 49ers suffered a brutal 20-17 loss to the division rival Seattle Seahawks in Week 11.
On Monday, Shanahan told reporters that Purdy has been dealing with soreness in his right shoulder after the Sunday defeat, per ESPN.
Shanahan said that Purdy is “day-to-day” due to the issue.
The head coach added that the injury is likely the result of hits Purdy received during the game against the Seahawks.
The 49ers will release their first practice report on Wednesday.
Purdy completed 21 of 28 passes for 159 yards with a touchdown and an interception versus Seattle while being sacked twice and four additional hits in the pocket.
He also rushed five times for 40 yards and a touchdown while also taking numerous hits.
San Francisco had the lowest amount of yards (241) for the season in the contest.
If Purdy can’t play against the Green Bay Packers in Week 11, the 49ers will turn to either Brandon Allen or Joshua Dobbs.
In 10 games, Purdy has thrown 13 touchdowns against six interceptions along with four rushing scores.
The 24-year-old isn’t the only injured 49ers star currently.
Four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Nick Bosa’s status will be monitored after he injured his left hip and oblique against Seattle.
Shanahan told reporters that Bosa still has a chance to play in Week 11, but it’s too early to make the decision.
“We’ll see how it goes this week,” Shanahan said.
“[There’s] just as good of a chance for him not to play as play.
“But unless it’s an injury that you know has them knocked out … you don’t decide those things on Mondays.”
The 49ers will have to monitor tight end George Kittle, who missed the last game due to a hamstring injury, left tackle Trent Williams (ankle), and cornerback Charvarius Ward, who has returned to the team after being away for personal reasons.
Shanahan revealed that Kittle should be able to participate in practice on Wednesday.
The team will also keep an eye on punt returner Jacob Cowing, who’s in concussion protocol, and linebacker Tatum Bethune, who has an MCL sprain and is expected to miss an extended period.
The 49ers are 5-5 and are just one game back of the first-place 6-4 Arizona Cardinals.
