A group of employees asked their boss if they could have cake, and their response has left the internet in stitches.
Reddit user copperpin, who works in the veteran’s assistance office of a local community college, shared with Newsweek how a rumor went around that colleagues in the tutoring lab had cake.
“So someone asked if WE were going to have cake. The boss didn’t reply, but a minute later he walked out of the door, disappeared for 15-20 minutes, and returned with the cake,” the original poster [OP] explained.
The post, which has garnered 34,000 upvotes, featured a photo of the comical Halloween-themed cake. It was a rectangle sponge iced with the words: “Now get back to work.”
“Everyone laughed when we saw the caption, and we all took pictures before digging in. I posted mine to Reddit and next thing you know 2.5 million people saw our cake,” he said.
The light-hearted gesture brought plenty of laughs, highlighting how humor can boost morale in an office setting.
According to job search site Indeed, small acts of appreciation or team-building moments, like bringing in treats or organizing a game, can go a long way in creating a positive work environment.
Regularly scheduled team-building activities, clear communication, and recognition of achievements are all simple ways to keep employees feeling appreciated and engaged.
Humor in the workplace offers numerous psychological benefits that enhance both individual and team dynamics. It fosters a positive atmosphere, reduces stress, and can strengthen relationships among colleagues, leading to better collaboration and communication, according to Psychology Today.
Employees who use humor are often deemed to be more competent and confident.
However, workers should try to avoid using aggressive or self-deprecating humor, and instead focus on positive humor, focusing on a shared experience, such as the collective enjoyment of the funny cake.
