Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis posted a clip on social media showing him chopping up a tree while preparing for the title defense of his IBF welterweight belt against mandatory Karen Chukhadzhian on November 9th.
In the video clip, Ennis (32-0, 29 KOs) is seen destroying a beautiful tree with an axe. It’s unclear whose tree it is and what property. Is this in Boots’ yard?
Boots Cutting Down A Poor Tree
There’s got to be a better way to prepare for a guy with no power than chopping down trees. It’s not like Karen can punch. Why is there a need to cut down a live tree? It’s weird.
Ennis already beat Chukhadzhian (23-2, 13 KOs) by a lopsided 12-round unanimous decision last year by these scores:
– 120-108
– 120-108
– 120-108
Hopefully, Ennis isn’t going to chop all the trees down in Philadelphia and the rest of Pennsylvania while preparing for his fights. Boots need to hit the weight room or get an old tire to hit it with a sledgehammer like Artur Beterbiev does rather than chopping valuable trees down.
Ennis wouldn’t have to fight Karen if his promoter, Eddie Hearn, had negotiated a unification fight against WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr.
That’s a bad sign that Hearn failed to negotiate that fight because it suggests that Ennis will encounter future obstacles when he attempts to unify the welterweight division. Boots should get a clue and forget about his vision of becoming the undisputed champion at welterweight because it’s not going to happen.
The champions know they have little chance of beating Boots Ennis. So they’re going to ask for a ton of money, a lot more than than what Hearn is willing to pay. If Hearn’s ceiling for purses for these champions is $1.7 million. He’s never in a million years going to get any of the champions to agree to fight Boots.
The only way around that is His Excellency Turki Alalshikh would help out, but why would he? Boots isn’t a household name in the U.S, and neither are the champions at 147. Hardcore fans know who they are, but not the casual fans.
