An American woman has given a tour of her “truly amazing” Italian home that she bought for just €63,000, which is around $66,000.
Jamie Walsh, 48, moved to Italy as she has had a life-long love for the country, with her grandmother having moved from the Mediterranean country to the United States when she was a child. She gave TikTok users a glimpse of her home, which is just 13 miles from the coast, with people flooding the comments with praise for the quaint house.
“This home, I walked through last year and it was completely renovated in the perfect town with a train station and infrastructure and it was affordable,” she told Newsweek.
In her video, which has racked up 1.4 million views in just three days, Walsh takes viewers around the house to show some of the stand-out features, including the high ceilings, arched doorways, and spacious living room/kitchen area.
“This house is in an ancient building that has been renovated,” she wrote in the text overlay of the video. “You’ll notice a lot of the ancient details and charm mixed with modern elements.”
She first enters the house to be greeted with marble stairs leading up to the home, and then shows the bedroom with its chandelier, the bathroom with its high arched ceiling, and the spacious bright living room and kitchen area.
She then takes viewers to the Juliet balcony and shows the view of the quaint Italian street below, before going up another flight of stairs to reveal the rooftop terrace which is full of plants.
In a previous video, Walsh explained her reasons for wanting to move to Italy, explaining that she grew up with an Italian grandmother. “I went to Europe when I was in my 30s,” she says.
“When I was in Europe, I immediately knew I wanted to live there some day. I’ve been there and spent quite a bit of time there and every time I have this feeling of peace and contentment I have never felt in the U.S.
“I constantly feel unsettled here [in America]. It’s hard to explain but it’s just a feeling.”
Puglia, where Walsh purchased her home, is a region located in the southern peninsula of Italy. It is a popular destination for tourists visiting the country, known for its scenic coastline.
According to Global Citizen Solutions, there are 15,658 Americans currently living in Italy.
Walsh’s video received thousands of comments, with many people praising her home.
