AMERICAN Idol finalist Zachariah Smith has slammed the show for ‘sticking him in a lane’ regarding song choices.
Zachariah charmed fans with his talent during season 21 of the hit competition.

On Instagram, a follower suggested: “You should totally do The Voice virtual open call audition that they have for September 26, 2024.
“Your voice would totally rock and bring the house down.”
In a seemingly since-deleted response, Zachariah outlined what he would like done differently should such a scenario happen.
The star penned: “Thanks! If I were to ever go on another show, I would definitely want to make sure the audience knew I was a country singer.

“That is the only thing I regret about American Idol.
“They stuck me in a lane and would not let me choose genres.”
While competing, he performed songs including “Don’t Bring Me Down” by the Electric Light Orchestra and “Wanted Dead or Alive” by Bon Jovi.
Near the end of his run, Zachariah sang “Take It On The Run” by REO Speedwagon.
He made it to the final five alongside Wé Ani, Megan Danielle, Iam Tongi and Colin Stough.
Ultimately, Colin, Iam and Megan advanced to the top three with Iam later being named the winner.
After his elimination, Zachariah reunited with judge Luke Bryan at last year’s Stagecoach festival.
The pair took to Instagram for a smiling snap from inside Luke’s tour bus.
Excited to see the pair together again, one fan commented how Zachariah would “have his own tour bus one day” .
Another remarked they were looking forward to a “collab some day” between the two singers.

In particular, his marriage to wife Crysta, who is 13 years his senior.
The U.S. Sun exclusively learned that the couple tied the knot just months after Crysta divorced the father of her three children.
Despite the age gap, many fans appear to be supportive of Crysta and Zachariah’s relationship.
