THIS holiday season, Amazon is giving customers a heartwarming way to show appreciation for their delivery drivers — and it won’t cost a dime.
The e-commerce giant has reintroduced its popular Thank My Driver feature – but you need to know where to look.
U.S. customers can now say, “Alexa, thank my driver,” on any Alexa-enabled device or search “thank my driver” on the Amazon app or website.
When they do, the driver who completed their most recent delivery will be notified of the customer’s appreciation.
For the first 2 million thank-yous, Amazon will give $5 to the delivery driver, with no cost to the customer.
Through December, Amazon is continuing to celebrate its drivers with generous incentives.
Each day, the 1,000 most-thanked drivers will receive $100 as a token of appreciation for their dedication and hard work.
The top seven drivers with the most thank-yous each week will also be rewarded with a $10,000 bonus.
To top it off, seven drivers who accumulate the highest number of thank-yous throughout the entire promotional period will receive grand prizes of $25,000.
Along with this, Amazon will donate an extra $25,000 to a charity of each grand prize winner’s choice, amplifying the spirit of giving during the holiday season.
Amazon launched this feature in 2022, and it has already resulted in over 40 million thank-yous from customers nationwide.
“Delivery drivers do more than just drop off packages—they build connections with customers and sometimes even become unexpected heroes,” Amazon said in a statement.
For those without Alexa-enabled devices, accessing the feature is simple.
Customers can use the Amazon shopping app or search “thank my driver” on the Amazon website.
Drivers eligible for the program include those working with Amazon’s Delivery Service Partners, Amazon Flex delivery partners, and Hub Delivery Associates.
Even after the initial $5 giveaway for the first 2 million thank-yous ends, customers can continue to use the feature to express their gratitude throughout the year.
Drivers can see how many times they’ve been thanked via their app, making it a meaningful gesture that goes beyond monetary rewards.
It comes as Amazon has made a major policy change for holiday gift returns.
In case an item arrives damaged or, for whatever reason, the recipient isn’t satisfied, the e-commerce giant wants to help.
That’s why it’s extending the typical 30-day return policy window, allowing more time to resolve the situation.
The 2024 Holiday Season Extended Return Window applies to most items sold through Amazon.
Products that qualify must have been purchased at the earliest November 1 and the latest December 31.
Shoppers who make transactions within the window for eligible products can return them through January 31, 2025.
For consumers who bought items on November 1, it’s a considerable extension from the standard return policy.
Instead of one month, they have nearly three.
