Ocasio-Cortez spoke to the crowd in Chicago, Illinois, for about seven minutes on Monday night.

As the crowd applauded the New York City politician, some social media users pointed out a possible change in her accent when she started her attack on Donald Trump.

“Chicago, we have to help her win,” she said.

“Because, we know that Donald Trump would sell this country for a dollar if it meant lining his own pockets and greasing the palms of his Wall Street friends.

Her voice seemed to slow down and possibly came across more Southern than New York.

“I, for one, am tired of hearing about how a two-bit union buster thinks of himself as more of a patriot than the woman who fights every single day to lift working people out from under the boots of greed, trampling on our way of life,” she added.

Critics questioned her speech and voice in scathing posts on X.

“AOC speech was cringe,” one person said on X.

“The fake accent was way too much for me.”

“Tonight’s candidate for Actress in a supporting role, Bad Accent, is @AOC,” another person wrote.

Ocasio-Cortez has faced accusations of switching her voice in the past and one X user echoed that.

“AOC busted out her fake accent tonight…” they wrote.

“This is just… bizarre.”

PAST ACCENT CONTROVERSIES

The House Representative was blasted for an infamous video from a conference in 2019.

Who is AOC?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has become a global face for the left wing in American politics.

Ocasio-Cortez, more commonly known as AOC, has been a House Representative for New York’s 14th district since 2019.

She is a part of the so-called “Squad,” which is an informal group of nine Democratic politicians known for being more progressive.

AOC was born in The Bronx, New York City, and still serves part of the borough.

She graduated from Boston College in 2011 with a degree in international relations and economics.

AOC infamously took a job as a bartender after college, which she has since had to defend.

She started her political career as an organizer for Bernie Sanders during the 2016 primary.

Ocasio-Cortez was accused of using an “accent” at the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network convention, according to Fox News.

The politician was responding to people who pointed out her past job as a bartender.

Ocasio-Cortez said these points were attempts to delegitimize her current work in politics.

“I’m proud to be a bartender,” she said at the time.

“Ain’t nothing wrong with that.”

An X user posted this video and compared it to another clip of her talking in a seemingly slower and different voice.

“AOC is a total fraud,” this person wrote in the post’s caption.

DNC NIGHT ONE

The first night of the DNC was packed with talks from other key members of the Democratic Party.

This included an emotional speech from Joe Biden as he waved goodbye to his five decade career in politics.

Biden spoke for 47-minutes after he was introduced to the stage by his daughter, Ashley.

“America, I love you,” said Biden as the crowd chanted back, “Thank you, Joe.”

“I made a lot of mistakes in my career, but I gave my best to you,” he added.

“For 50 years, like many of you, I’ve given my heart and soul to our nation and I’ve been blessed, a million times in return, with the support of the American people.”

WARNING CALL

A former rival to Joe Biden has claimed protesters targeting the DNC could help trigger a win for Donald Trump.

Congressman Dean Phillips, who represents a seat in Minnesota, told The U.S. Sun that anti-Israel protests were “scenes Donald Trump would love to see.”

Thousands of protesters marched in Chicago to rally for Palestine and abortion rights the day before the convention’s kickoff on Monday.
