Adele’s new German residency Adele In Munich continues to be one of the most entertaining concert experiences of the year. With only five shows so far, Adele, 36, has prompted several viral moments onstage.
Though the “Set Fire To The Rain” hitmaker managed to keep her show going amid torrential downpour on Wednesday, August 14, the concert didn’t come without an on-stage mishap.
Adele had to change her shoes from a pair of heels to sneakers in order to be safe in the rain. But as she was wearing them, she suffered a wardrobe malfunction, as the laces came undone. Adele called someone for help to re-tie her shoes, but ended up doing it herself when additional help was taking too long.
She bent down to re-tie the laces, twerking at the audience of 80,000 people. Supporting Adele from afar was her fiancé Rich Paul, who posted on X (formerly Twitter) seemingly in response to the incident, “The show must go on!”
Meanwhile, Adele was trying to get the focus off of her shoes. As she noticed herself on the giant screen, she told the cameraman, “Get your camera off my trainers.” She also evidently heard someone in the audience saying, “Nice shoes,” to which she responded, “Who just said, ‘Nice shoes’? Stop making fun of me.”
Adele In Munich has been a memorable show thus far. Last week, she confirmed she and Paul are engaged after an audience member humorously proposed to her. “I’m already getting married,” she quipped in response.
While rain during an outdoor concert is never ideal, it appears that the downpour occurred at an appropriate time during her set list. In fan-filmed videos, Adele performs her hit single “Set Fire To The Rain,” as well as “Skyfall,” the theme song of the 2012 James Bond film, Skyfall.
Adele In Munich will continue to run for two shows weekly, before wrapping on Saturday, August 31.
