RESIDENTS have been warned to avoid the area as cops raced to the scene of a shooting on Saturday night.

An officer-involved shooting broke out on Saturday night in Hiram, Georgia, according to local police scanners.

Paulding County Sheriff’s Office told The U.S. Sun that there’s no information available as the scene remains active but that there will be an update shortly.

Hiram is located about 45 minutes outside of Atlanta.

A significant police presence as well as SWAT team members for the Cobb County Police Department were spotted on the scene after the incident was reported.

Police scanners report that the scene of the shooting is on Bill Carruth Parkway near Virgie Ballentine Drive – which matches the location of Hiram’s local high school.

Residents are sharing their concerns about the unfolding incident on Facebook.

“All I will say now is keep the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office in your prayers as well as the agencies responding to assist on this on going scene in Hiram, Georgia,” one Facebook user wrote.

“Paulding County Sheriff deputies are currently in a bad situation, and need prayers,” another shared.
