AARON Rodgers is facing an uphill battle if he wants to carry on playing next season, according to an inside report.
The future Hall of Fame quarterback will turn 41 next week.
He joined the New York Jets last year – but both his seasons with the franchise have been injury plagued.
And the Jets have won just three of 11 games this year during a terrible campaign.
Rodgers was asked earlier this month if he wants to return next year.
“I think so, yeah,” the 40-year-old responded.
But NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said it would be an “uphill battle” for Rodgers to play in 2025.
He quoted one source as saying it would be a “shock” to see the quarterback under center at MetLife Stadium.
Rodgers missed his entire first season with the Jets when he tore his Achilles just four plays into the year.
This year he has dealt with knee, ankle and hamstring issues.
Rapoport added that Rodgers has held off getting scans done out of fear of discovering the full extent of his injuries and missing playing time.
Rodgers would also be owed $38 million by the Jets if he played next year.
But none of the money is guaranteed – meaning the franchise and the quarterback could part ways.
And owner Woody Johnson has major changes planned for the Jets.
Head coach Robert Saleh was fired in October after a 2-3 start to the season.
General manager Joe Douglas was also given his marching orders earlier this month.
Johnson has appointed a “think tank” to oversee the search for a new head coach and general manager.
It is led by former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum and ex-Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman.
Rodgers is a four-time NFL MVP and into his 20th season in the league.
He apparently has no plans to go into media after he’s done playing.
Instead, Rodgers is said to be looking at a career in politics, according to Daily Mail.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been named President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination for Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Kennedy Jr. suggested the idea of Rodgers being his running mate if he went for President.
But the politician instead went for Nicole Shanahan in his bid over Rodgers.
