Melissa Jubane Update: Missing Nurse Found Dead as Neighbor Arrested

Missing Oregon nurse, Melissa Jubane, 32, has been found dead, with her neighbor arrested and charged with her murder, local police said on Saturday.

Jubane, a nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland was reported missing earlier this week following a welfare check, after she failed to report for her morning shift on September 4, raising concerns among her co-workers, friends, and family.

The cardiac nurse was a newlywed who had just returned home from her Hawaii wedding days earlier. Jubane had married her husband Bryan Llantero in Haleʻiwa, O’ahum on the island of Honolulu on August 24, as reported by The New York Post.

According to police updates, a search of her residence was conducted and her absence without communication was deemed “unusual and alarming,” coupled with unsuccessful attempts to contact the nurse throughout the day. Jubane’s phone appeared to be turned off and “searches of bank and credit card records yielded no new information regarding her location.”

Jubane was then entered into national law enforcement databases as a missing person.

Newsweek contacted the medical center, Washington County Jail and the Beaverton Police Department for comment via email on Sunday.

Following a police investigation by Beaverton police, Schubert was arrested and charged with her murder. Her body has also been recovered. Police have yet to comment on where her remains were found, the cause of death, or Schubert’s connection.
