LOS Angeles Charger linebacker Khalil Mack has lots of love for his quarterback Justin Herbert.
The 2016 NFL Defensive Player of the Year talked about the Chargers signal-caller’s offseason prep after he suffered a foot injury.
And Mack, 33, has been impressed with Herbert’s grind.
“Herb’s a dog, man,” the linebacker told Kay Adams on Friday.
“We was down there working out the day together, man. Herb is a savage, man. I love that guy, man.
“Quiet dude, but come in and work hard, man.
“You would think he was coming in the edge room with me afterwards.
“He ended up working his neck and traps and core.
“And so, yeah, Herb a savage, man. Herb a dog.”
Adams asked Mack to clarify what exactly he meant by calling Herbert, 26, a savage.

“Yeah, he’s a hard worker. He let the work speak for itself,” the Chargers star explained.
“He kind of one of them guys that doesn’t really like too much credit but definitely loves to put the work in – and it shows.”
Herbert was diagnosed with an injury to the plantar fascia in his right foot not long after the start of training camp.
On Thursday, the former Oregon standout walked onto the practice field without a walking boot for the first time since getting hurt, per The Athletic’s Daniel Popper.
“It felt like progress,” Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said after the practice.
Harbaugh couldn’t tell how close Herbert was to resuming practice, though.
