In October last year, during an episode of This Morning, Alison opened up about what sparked her to begin losing weight.

Alison explained that it all began when she got some worrying health news, not long after losing her mother in 2020.

Alison’s mum sadly passed away during the pandemic following a battle with lung and liver cancer.

The 49-year-old – who has previously revealed that she couldn’t lose weight even when fitted with a gastric band – was diagnosed with a pre-diabetic condition at the time.

“I’ve never had health issues until then. It scared me because my mum had diabetes and I want to be there for my son,” she said.

The TV star then continued. She revealed that she cut sugar from her diet, which helped.

“I decided to do something about it. I go for walks and I cut out sugar. I feel a lot better,” she said.

She then went on to say that though she wasn’t weighing herself, she knew she was losing weight by how her clothes were fitting her.

“I’m no longer pre-diabetic, and I’m doing really well,” she said. “I’ve been doing that for a while now, and you know something? I feel fitter, I feel stronger. I might not look perfect yet, but personally, I’m perfect, full stop.”

Mum of Alison’s new boyfriend not happy

In other Alison-related news, the mum of her new boyfriend, David Putman, reportedly isn’t happy with her son’s new relationship.

David is 23 years Alison’s junior. He is a Russian model and masseuse.

David’s mum, Olga, 63, is reportedly not too keen on her son dating Alison.

“She thinks Alison is way too old for David and doesn’t like all the attention her TV fame has brought to her son,” a source told The Sun.

“She’s uncomfortable that her son is with someone who has so much more financial power than him.” The source then claimed that Olga’s traditional values “don’t sit well” with her son’s new romance with Alison,” they then continued.

“She’s told him in no uncertain terms that he must end it,” they then claimed.
