“He is now safe with our friends. Thank you to everyone who has helped to find him, offered support and shared this post to get it out to so many people,” she wrote.

“Thank you also to the NSW Police. Particularly Brisbane Water and Penrith. We are so grateful.”

The teenager had last been seen at 10pm on Saturday in Green Point on the Central Coast, before he caught a train.

“Hi everyone we are desperately looking for our son Kade,” Jess wrote before he was found.

“He purchased a train ticket at Gosford train station this morning, Sunday 22/12/24 at 1.51am.

“We believed he walked from Green Point to Gosford and is likely heading for the Penrith area.

“Please if you have seen him or heard from him, please get in touch with us.

“He has James’s phone so James is not contactable. We are desperate to know he’s OK and if he doesn’t want us to know exactly where he is, that’s OK, we just desperately want to know he’s safe.

“The police are helping us too so please inform them also if you know anything. Please share also. Thank you.”

NSW Police assisted the Maloneys through the ordeal, and thanked the community when the boy was found.

“Great news! A 14-year-old boy reported missing from Green Point has been located safe and well,” a police statement reads.

“Police thank the media and the community for their assistance.”

The Maloney family had been relocating down to Sydney from Townsville, where James was working as an assistant coach with the North Queensland Cowboys, with their four children, when Kade went missing.

James Maloney played 269 NRL games across stints with five different clubs, plus 14 Origin caps for NSW and three international games for the Kangaroos, in a stellar career which continued even after his last NRL game.

He played four years with two different clubs in France after finishing up at the Panthers in 2019.
