Woman Looks in Garage After Grandpa Dies, Can’t Believe the ‘Secret’ Inside

A woman in New York made an amazing discovery when she was going through her late grandfather’s garage where she discovered just how many things he had collected as an antique enthusiast.

“My grandfather was an avid antique collector and would spend his weekends ‘garage sale-ing’ so his secret antique shop was filled with tons of treasures,” Giovanna Macejka told Newsweek.

In a video posted to Instagram, which has received over 440,000 views since it was first shared on August 9, Macejka shows the massive collection of antiques that belonged to her grandfather, revealing that she had no idea how much was in there before exploring.

“I knew that my late grandfather loved antiquing,” she wrote in the text overlay of the video. “But what I didn’t know was his garage was a secret antique shop.”

The video shows the massive collection that belonged to him, including paintings, ornaments, and light fixtures.

“We would’ve been the best antiquing duo,” she wrote in the caption of the video.

“Some of my favorite finds were his ‘unusual salt and pepper collection’, a Miss Piggy piggy bank and a Marylin Monroe telephone,” Macejka told Newsweek. “But there were tons of antique lighting fixtures, drinking glasses and art pieces. He would have his own garage sales often where people could come check out his things but it was more of a hobby than a side gig to make extra money.”

According to market research by IBIS World, the antiques trade in the United States has been growing year-on-year. This year, it was reported to be worth $4.5 billion.
