DRIVERS have just weeks left to nab a beloved Ford model before it is discontinued by the end of the year.

One motorhead has described the model as having come “full circle” from its 2001 origins.

The Ford escape was the 25th best-selling vehicle in America last year with over 140,000 units sold.

But now the compact SUV’s legacy has been set to end after 23 years of production.

Following the Edge SUV before it, the current model could be discontinued before the end of this year according to motor1.

Many have taken to social media after hearing the latest update.

One person commented back in April: “The Ford Edge is being discontinued. No commitment on the Escape.”

Someone else previously put: “Get rid of the escape, keep the edge.”

Another claimed the decision was likely to bring about newer electric vehicles to the brand’s line-up.

A fourth wrote: “2001 Ford Escape has come full circle as the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport.”

According to Automotive News, Ford has plans to retire three gasoline models by the end of next year.

This is thought to include the Escape and Edge SUVs.

New Ford Capri is a decent family motor that drives well but is NOTHING like the original – so why give it such an iconic name?

Others took to social media last year to express how individual parts for the car were being discontinued, perhaps hinting at what was to come.

One user said: “They discontinued that battery and why it was so expensive. I also have a Ford Escape Hybrid, battery went out twice, it was about $600 locally to swap with a used one (they fix just the bad cells).”

A second commented: “HELP PLEASE. I have a huge dilemma. I bought a 2008 Ford Escape hybrid.

“The backing plates in the rear are corroded and Ford discontinued these parts…6000 invested… HELP.”
