The products affected are Stanley’s Switchback and Trigger Action mugs.

US officials issued the recall because, in some instances, the lid thread was starting to shrink.

This caused the lid to loosen, potentially posing a risk when they were being used.

So far, 91 reports worldwide warning that the lids were detaching on the mugs have been reported, per the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Sixteen reports were filed in the US, and two people suffered burn injuries.

The stainless steel mugs are sold in a variety of colors and at popular retailers such as Walmart and Target.

Shoppers could also buy the product from Amazon and Dicks Sporting Goods.

The recall has been issued for mugs sold between June 2016 and December 2024, according to the CPSC.

And they retailed from anywhere between $20 and $50 depending on the model

Customers have been urged to contact the brand so they can get a replacement lid.

Shoppers will not have to fork out extra costs for shipping.

“At Stanley 1913, we are committed to constant improvement and are focused on creating quality products that are built for life,” the company said in a statement.

Customers can call a dedicated hotline or file a claim online.

Stanley cups have become a phenomenon thanks to social media.

In 2023, the company saw sales skyrocket from $75 million to $750 million, according to Forbes.

Stanley tumbler products have become a craze, and the Stanley tumbler TikTok hashtag has been viewed more than 6.7 billion times.

Last year, the phrases “Stanley cup” and “Stanley 40 oz tumbler with handle” were searched more than four million times on Amazon, as reported by The New York Post.

The Stanley Cup craze has sparked chaos at retailers across the US, with bosses forced to limit the number of mugs shoppers can buy.

One shopper documented their struggle in a Target outlet in a clip shared on New Year’s Eve last year.

Customers were seen scrambling for the mugs as they flocked to a particular shelf.

Target bosses put up signs that warned shoppers they could buy two mugs each.

But, the cost of a Stanley thermal mug is something that can put shoppers off.

Savvy shoppers have found almost identical products that are just a fraction of the price.
