Nancy Pelosi was heckled for over a minute while speaking about her recent book at an event in New York in October.
Pelosi told Katie Couric, the moderator, that her inspiration for writing “The Art of Power” was “setting the record straight on four things, two domestic and two foreign.” One of these was her “grave disagreement” with President George W. Bush on the Iraq war.
As Pelosi was talking, one heckler interrupted by shouting: “Nancy I’m glad you disagreed with the Iraqi war, but you do not disagree…” The heckler’s remarks were then drowned out by boos from the crowd.
Responding to the heckler, Pelosi said “thank you” and gestured to the crowd to settle down. “Don’t worry about that, I’m from San Francisco, I’m used to this,” she said.
Couric added: “We have an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.”
This is a breaking story. More to follow.
