Sophia Loren’s Granddaughter Lucia Ponti Makes Debut at Debutante Ball

Sophia Loren’s Hollywood glamour runs in the family.

The legendary actress’ granddaughter Lucia Ponti stepped out for Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris Nov. 30 donning a strapless striped gown designed by Giorgio Armani, as seen in an Instagram Stories post shared by her mom Sasha Alexander.

The invite-only affair recognizes 20 young women from notable families each year, with the purpose of raising money for young women’s charities. Along with Lucia, 18, the 2024 debutante list included the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter Apple Martin, as well as Sophie Kodjoe, whose parents are actors Nicole Ari Parker and Boris Kodjoe.

As for Lucia—whose father is Sophia and late husband Carlo Ponti Sr.’s younger son Edoardo Ponti—she didn’t just inherit her grandmother’s looks, revealing how the 90-year-old’s signature sense of style influenced her own fashion taste.

“My grandmother always believed in timeless elegance and the importance of wearing something that reflects your true self,” Lucia told Hello! in an interview published Nov. 25. “Growing up, she taught me the value of simplicity, tailoring, and always adding a touch of uniqueness to your outfit.”
