A HOME Depot shopper has slammed the retailer after seemingly encountering a problem at the self-checkout.
The customer was less than impressed after being blocked from using a payment method.
Dave was furious when he couldn’t pay for his goods using cash, according to an X post.
He was so infuriated after waiting 10 minutes in the line.
He claimed that he left “everything” at the kiosk and walked out.
Dave then said he decided to buy items at a Tractor Supply store.
Tractor Supply is a chain store that has more than 2,000 outlets across the US.
“I will never shop at your place again,” he said in the tirade addressed to Home Depot.
The U.S. Sun has approached Home Depot for comment.
Financial experts have revealed why some self-checkout machines are cashless.
Experts at Stack Exchange have revealed one perk of a cashless machine is that it doesn’t require workers to count dollar bills at the end of their shift.
It is not just self-checkout machines that do not accept cash.
Sports stadiums are among the venues that only allow fans to buy items using their cards.
Ted Rossman, a Bankrate senior industry analyst, told USA Today that the motive revolves around convenience.
“Speed and convenience tend to be the main explanations, especially with most stadiums that have gone cashless,” he said.
Rossman explained that, in principle, card-only kiosks should keep waiting times down.
He also revealed that businesses are trying to combat crime.
‘SPEEDY EXITS’
Jay Stanley, from the American Civil Liberties Union, has claimed there is a war on cash.
And as such, millions of Americans have cards stored on their cell phones.
Research estimates more than 60 million Apple Pay users are in the country.
And this number could rocket to over 75 million by 2030.
Most major retailers allow shoppers to buy goods via Apple Pay.
But, there are certain exceptions.
Walmart is one of the few retailers that has not rolled out the payment method service.
The retailer’s CEO, Doug McMillon, has given his reasoning for the decision.
Walmart has come under fire from furious shoppers because of their stance on Apple Pay.
But, it doesn’t seem imminent that it will be a feature in supermarkets across the US.
Walmart has not responded to the U.S. Sun’s requests for comment about the issue.
Why doesn’t Walmart offer Apple Pay?
CEO of Walmart Doug McMillon has revealed why stores don’t offer Apple Pay on Stratechery with Ben Thompson.
Though using Apple Pay at the retailer has been an ongoing conversation, McMillon emphasized that “We would like to have the customers open our app in the store all the time.”
The app can be used to help find items in the store, but it can also be used to pay for your purchases.
“That’s one of the things that we would like people to use our app for,” he said.
