Floyd Schofield Sr. says his son, ‘Kid Austin,’ will be ready to replace injured William Zepeda and face Shakur Stevenson for his WBC lightweight title on February 22nd.
Schofield Sr. says Kid Austin (18-0, 12 KOs) will fight Shakur (22-0, 10 KOs) anywhere he wants, and they’ll give half their purse to “charity.” He states that the winner of the fight can face Zepeda.
What Schofield Sr. isn’t saying is Oscar De La Hoya has got to agree to the fight, and he may not want to let him because Kid Austin isn’t nearly ready.
“Shakur, you know Zepeda is ducking. You knew that would happen. So, what’s up? Let’s make this happen,” said Floyd Schofield Sr. on social media. “We will be ready for February 22nd to meet you wherever we got to meet, and we’re donating half our bag to charity.
“It ain’t no excuse. Be ready to sign. The ink is nice and ready, Shakur. Let’s go. Let’s give the fans a great fight, and the winner can fight Zepeda, fight Tank, or do whatever they want. I guarantee you, we’re going to stop you, Shakur. We’re ready,” said Schofield Sr.
