Squid Game fans have been waiting for a new season of the show since 2022, and now they only have a few weeks to recap before the premiere of the second season.
It doesn’t matter if you are new to the show or if you are a returning viewer, the only way to watch the intense show is to stream it on Netflix.
Squid Game quickly became one of the streaming platform’s most popular shows, and was originally created by Hwang Dong-hyuk for Korean television. Despite having a predominantly violent story about a competition based on children’s games with a deadly twist, the series became a global success that transcended language barriers. It was also largely responsible for bringing Korean content to mainstream entertainment.
Netflix announced that the show would receive a second season in June 2022, just nine months after the first season’s premiere. They later announced that filming for the second season wrapped in 2023.
The streaming platform released a full length trailer for the upcoming season on October 31, giving fans an exciting peek at what they can expect to see in season two. The trailer confirmed the return of Lee Jung-jae, who played Seong Gi-hun, the protagonist, in the series. The clip also included some of the familiar deadly games from the first season.
Fans of the series took to the comments of the trailer on YouTube to share their excitement for the new season. One fan wrote, “This feels so much more intense than the first season now that we know everything ,” while a second added, “Here we go again.”
A third fan admitted that she had doubts before the trailer was released but they seemingly changed their mind and wrote, “I was really struggling to see how the story would progress and remain fresh while keeping the the macabre intensity of the games. Now I know. Looks awesome.”
Season two of Squid Game will be available for fans to stream on December 26, exclusively on Netflix.
