Australian cult hero Nedd Brockmann had some extra fans cheering him on as he continues his push to break the 1000-mile world record.
Shortly after Penrith won their fourth-straight NRL premiership at Accor Stadium, some fans ventured next door to the Sydney Olympic Park to watch Brockmann’s latest mission.

A short clip posted on X shows Brockmann acknowledging the fans, who were cheering him on, as he ran around the track.
But in another clip, one overzealous fan was told to quieten down by one of Brockmann’s support team.
The 25-year-old ultra-runner is hoping to raise $10m for homelessness charity We Are Mobilise with the world record attempt.
In order to beat the world record, he will need to average 160km a day across 10 days.
“October 3rd 2024, I’ll be attempting to break the world record for the fastest time to cover 1000 miles (1610km) on foot, while aiming to raise 10 million dollars to help Aussies experiencing homelessness in the process,” he said in an Instagram post in May.
“It would be ridiculous of me not to honour the people who have gone before me as (I think) I understand the depths one must go to achieve such a thing.
“Held by one of, if not the greatest ultra runner of all time, Yiannis Kouros’s feat of endurance is simply mind-blowing.”
Brockmann rose to national fame in October 2022 when he completed a mammoth 3953km run from Cottesloe Beach in Western Australia to Sydney’s Bondi Beach.
The inspirational run, on the back of which he built a cult following, took him 46 days and 12 hours, and included one trip to a hospital for a stress-related foot injury.
He lost 11 kilograms in the process, but managed to raise more than $1.85m for homeless charity We Are Mobilise.
“Get comfortable being uncomfortable,” he said after the race, which has become his motto.
