Ryan Garcia: “I Would Give Terence Crawford His Biggest Payday”

Ryan Garcia says he would give Terence Crawford the “biggest payday of his life” if he agrees to fight him. The recently turned 37-year-old Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) probably won’t take him up on his offer because he’s fixated on landing a mega-fight against Canelo Alvarez before retiring, and that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

If Ryan were serious about wanting to fight Crawford, it would be crazy for him to turn down the fight. He’s not going to get the Canelo fight in a million years, and there is nobody at 147, 154, 160, or 168 that can provide the payday that Ryan would.

Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) might have been pulling Crawford’s chin by telling the fans that he’d like to fight him because he’s currently not in the position to fight anybody. On social media today, Ryan mentioned wanting to do some exhibition matches in Japan, but that probably wouldn’t involve Crawford.

Ryan, 26, says he thinks Crawford is boring, and that’s actually quite true. Crawford is boring to watch because he’s a boxer. The guys that he knocked out were either old, ruined by car crashes, or not that good to begin with.

“As far as Bud Crawford, I called him out already. I think he’s only trying to fight Canelo Alvarez. So, I don’t think that’s going to happen,” said Ryan Garcia on social media, talking about wanting to fight Terence Crawford.

“I would love to fight Bud Crawford. I don’t think he’s as good as people say he is. I say this publicly, and I say it on live right now. If Bud is listening, I would love to fight you. I feel I would literally beat the s*** out of you.”

Crawford would have to be awfully spoiled for him to pass up on an offer like this to fight Ryan, because he’s not going to get anything better.

“You’re a good fighter, but I don’t think you’ve ever beaten anyone with talent and explosiveness and power. In my opinion, you may have beaten Shawn Porter. He’s a great fighter, but kind of basic. Errol Spence Jr. came off a crash. I don’t think he’s that good,” said Garcia.

“Have you fought anybody with one-punch knockout power? No. So, I think Bud Crawford is overrated. You guys could have your own opinions on it. That’s how I feel. I’m a boxer. I don’t care. I’ll fight him and beat the [stuffing] out of him. I feel like that’s it. Point blank and period,” said Garcia.

The left hook that Ryan Garcia throws would definitely knock out Crawford if he landed it on the button. Crawford was badly hurt by former featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa many years ago, and if he was hurt back then, he can be equally hurt now by Ryan. Crawford took a lot of hard shots by Israil Madrimov in their fight on August 3rd, and that couldn’t have done him any good.

“I would actually fight him. There’s a difference. I would actually fight him. You would actually see Ryan Garcia in the ring with Bud Crawford. I can’t speak for these other fighters. I don’t know if Tank would fight Bud Crawford, but I know I would. I would fight Bud Crawford with pride, and I would go in there and give it all I got,” said Garcia.

A fight between Ryan and Crawford would do big numbers, but only because of Kingry. Crawford would come along for the fight. It might not matter if Turki Alalshikh is paying Crawford, but the PPV numbers wouldn’t be on the level of Garcia’s fight against Gervonta Davis.

“If he doesn’t want it, that’s not my fault. If he doesn’t think it’s a match, that’s not my fault. He’s not a draw. He doesn’t bring anything to the table. He’s boring as f***, but I would probably give him his biggest payday of his life if he takes the fight,” said Ryan.

If His Excellency Turki Alalshikh is interested in paying Crawford tons of money to fight a non-popular fighter from the 154-lb division, he’ll probably do it. He’s not going to agree to fight anyone not named Canelo without Turki paying him handsomely.
