5 Lifetime Holiday Movies to Watch This Christmas

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Although Hallmark is a popular place for viewers to catch made-for-TV holiday movies, Lifetime has also followed suit over the past few years. The network made over 100 titles accessible on their website and app until January 1, 2025, and many of the films rely on similar tropes of small-town romances or Christmas heartbreak.

With Lifetime having plenty of holiday titles to choose from, we’ve narrowed down a few favorites for viewers looking for something to watch.

Steppin’ Into the Holiday

Lifetime’s 2022 film Steppin’ Into the Holiday details the blooming romance between a former Broadway star, Billy Holiday (Mario Lopez), and Rae (Jana Kramer), who owns a local dance studio. The two meet after Billy offers to help her with a fundraiser recital, leaning into the traditional Christmas movie tropes.

Every Day is Christmas

Toni Braxton stars in this 2018 Lifetime movie, which pulls inspiration from A Christmas Carol. Braxton’s character, Alexis, is a money manager who is very much against love and the holiday spirit. She is then sent to encounter her past, present, and future — and just might even find a romance along the way with a man named Justin (Michael Jai White).

The Holiday Fix Up

Kramer also starred in Lifetime’s 2021 flick, The Holiday Fix Up. This time, she appears as an interior designer named Sam, who ultimately is paired up with a contractor named Coop (Ryan McPartlin). The two work together to not only repair an inn but also their relationship. The film’s description notes: “he’s the guy who broke her heart and she’s the one who got away.”

The Holiday Junkie

The Holiday Junkie (2024) stars Jennifer Love Hewitt, who also wrote and directed the Lifetime movie. Hewitt plays Andie, a woman who once ran a decorating company with her mother, but is now processing grief during her first Christmas alone. As expected in a TV holiday film, Andie also goes on a journey to find love.

A Country Christmas Story

Country legend Dolly Parton and Grammy-nominated musician Brian McKnight co-starred in 2013’s A Country Christmas Story. Unlike most cheesy romances, this film finds the teenage Grace (Desiree Ross) entering Parton’s singing competition with the hopes of being a country performer. Along the way, this helps her reunite with her father, Danny, played by McKnight.

“It’s a sweet original movie, and I like just being able to play my music, be part of whatever I’m doing. I did write some of the music for this little show. And I enjoy getting to act a little bit. It’s just fun,” Parton told The Oklahoman in 2013.
